HMI AS is chosen as a partner by SMOE shipyard in Singapore to deliver and assemble furniture for the Ekofisk 2/4L in the North Sea. SMOE is part of SembCorp Marine in Singapore that build an oil rig for Norwegian gas and oil fields, Ekofisk in the North Sea. 10,000 tons platform has a price tag of nearly four billion NOK.
The new Ekofisk center will have 552 one-man cabins. The new building will also have an airport on the roof, with an estimated 50 daily arrivals and departures by helicopter, two hangars for both permanently stationed helicopters, 10 Freefall lifeboats hanging ready for use on site. This “552-room hotel” is Norway’s second largest, only Oslo Plaza is larger with 676 rooms.
HMI AS has been commissioned to deliver furniture to the platform. It is a high quality lightweight materials and NORSOK standard for maritime and offshore with fire rating, acoustics and ergonomics requirements. It is also extremely high standards of documentation in this project.
HMI shall be done with his part of the platform before next spring.
